Judge Marvin E. Segal has had over 50 years of intensive experience in the legal profession. After receiving his law degree from the university of Miami, he was admitted to the Florida Bar. He then served as a Captain in the judge Advocate General’s Department of the United States Air Force.
Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Judge Segal joined the firm of Standard, Weisberg, Heckerling and Rosow, where for 29 years, as an associate and then partner, he specialized in the trial of Admiralty and Insurance cases in all of the local, Federal and Appellate Courts.
Judge Segal served as a member of the Nassau County American Revolution Bicentennial Commission; Vice President, Counsel and Member of the Board of Directors of Nassau-Sufflok Division of Cystic Fibrosis; and as a member of the Nassau County Human Rights Commission.
Judge Segal was an arbitrators for the American Arbitration Association for 10 years, and also served as a master in Civil Court, New York County, presiding over tort and commercial litigation. He is co-author of the publication ” The Right of Marine Repairmen to a Seaworthy Vessel.”
Judge Segal is a member of the Nassau County Bar Associations; Jewish Lawyers’ Association of Nassau County; and the Maritime Law Association of the United States.
Judge Segal was elected to the Nassau County District Court where he served for 6 years. He was then elected to the Supreme Court, Nassau County where he sat for 15 years. Since his retirement, Judge Segal has been a successful Mediator.
